The development of life on our planet and the geological changes over time are the subject of the poster "Living Planet". It was created in 1998 with the aim of providing a comprehensive overview, or rather an impression, of the history of the Earth.
The third planet in our solar system was formed around 4,600 million years ago and has been home to living organisms for 3,800 million years. The poster focuses primarily on the last 540 million years, during which the diversity of cellular life forms developed.
The poster was revised in 2006, with the dates in particular being brought into line with the current state of research.
