There are basically two different types of telescope. A distinction is made between refractor (lens) and reflector (mirror) telescopes.

The aperture indicates the diameter of the objective lens or the mirror.

There are basically two different construction types: the rack and pinion focuser and the Crayford focuser.

A Crayford focuser is a ball bearing guided friction drive and allows a very precise adjustment of the focus.

Are mainly differentiated between equatorial and altazimuth. A special type of altazimuth mount is the Dobsonian mount.

Is a type of mount set-up, whereby one axis is aligned parallel to the axis of the Earth.

Eyepieces are needed for observing. You achieve a certain level of magnification depending on the focal length. The specification 2" refers to the diameter of the connector (2" = 50.8 millimetres).
