An extraordinary wall map
In 1927, the famous American painter N.C. Wyeth created a series of five murals for the Hubbard Memorial Hall.
These paintings were called "Romance of Discovery" and were framed by exquisite illustrated maps of the western and eastern hemispheres showing the routes of the world's most famous explorers. The "Eastern Hemisphere" map is decorated with portraits of these famous men. The "Western Hemisphere" map shows Poseidon and a mermaid as protectors of the oceans. These two images have now been transferred to paper to be available as wall maps for everyone to enjoy
